When we first put the cover on our plush 86" sofa, it felt ridiculously small - it tucked into the seat with no 'extra' stuff. But we had family visiting and our dog hair was too much on the faux suede sofa and I needed something to protect the sofa. At first I tried to attach the broomstick to the back, but it soon popped out. We didn't have foamy pool noodles. Upholstery pins (screw nails) so I used two under each arm and figured I'd do the back part later. Luxurious and the dog's hair can be combed out immediately. Cloth fluff also camouflages dirt. If it feels small on your sofa, find a way to secure it in place and over time it will expand to accommodate. Edited to add: In the last 15 years I have bought about 8 sofa covers and also bought very expensive branded covers. This is the first that has stayed in place with my pets, 4 kids and a few house guests. I don't think it's *only* the pins. There's something very right about hard stretching that makes it work. I never had to set it up once.
