I've replaced almost all the lights in my house
It's amazing how much overhead lighting technology has changed in the last 5-7 years. I've replaced almost all the lightbulbs in the house with these. You don't need glass - a simple blue junction box and then the ability to cut/patch or replace the drywall is all you need. A DIYer with some electrical and drywall skills can do this on their own. Before (about 10 years ago) you still considered installing boxes on studs in the ceiling when you needed recessed lighting. No longer! It's awesome.
