You can pan from left to right as many times as you like. just don't try right to left.
You can swing from left to right all day. However, when panning from right to left, the head detaches from the tripod. No matter how hard you twist that center pull, after a day or two, or maybe ten minutes, the head unscrews. How is it not caught?
