As a flash drive, they work perfectly! Attaching the keychain to 3/5 causes the actual part of the memory plug to fall out by gravity (slow falling) within 3-5 minutes after hanging! If it was on a kids backpack (the reason I bought the set) they would have a lid but the ride would have been long gone after a bus ride! The fox and teal owl have a chain attached to the heavy part of the flash and are less likely to get lost, but the bee, penguin and flat owl all cling to the soft/soft cap and leave the heavy disc they pull out the cap. . The penguin falls out in 1 minute or 2 "shakes" and the rest lasted a little longer but no more than 5 minutes hung from backpacks before we heard a "pop" on the hardwood floor! You won't go to school for a portable storage solution! TLTR: Don't buy if you want a securely portable drive that won't fall out or get lost, but if you want something pretty that will stay stationary on your desk at home or in the office, then that's reasonable.
