Received this set at the same time as another set from a different brand. We liked this set more than the others for several reasons. What we liked: The wood seems to be better "refined" than other brands. The edges are ground to be rounded and the overall surface is smoother. I don't mean it's been smeared or sealed or anything - I mean it looks like it's been polished and smoothed. noticeable - the other set had mounting points, which were just bare metal brackets that attached the racks to the wall. Not only were these mounting points more difficult to access, the bare metal squares aren't very attractive either. The wooden base of the hammock part has a nice oval shape and looks great on the wall. The fabric of the hammock is strong and appears to be holding up cat claws very well. The steps are designed so that you can change the way they are installed if you want to change directions. Another brand could only be installed one way. What we didn't like: The hammock is very small and really ideal for a small cat. We have two that weigh about 10 pounds and they barely fit. Our larger cats are definitely not suitable. The distance between the pre-drilled mounting holes is not enough to attach both sides (of the hammock) to the wall studs. One side appears to be studded and the other side anchored works well but the difference is quite slight so it would be nice if they were properly spaced so those with standard cleat spacing can secure both sides.
