Review on ⏲️ FMP Digital 4-Channel Commercial Kitchen Countdown Timer, Water-Resistant, 7-Inch Height, White by Diana Martin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Alarm clock is too loud for home use and timer input is slow and tedious

It's pretty much what I was looking for (multiple timers, large display, intuitive controls, wall mount), but it's also that loud, even after turning the volume knob to the "low" position and covering the speaker with duct tape. The beep is bright and piercing, like a smoke alarm. Working in a noisy, spacious commercial bakery/brewery would be great and it might be perfect for anyone with hearing issues in general, but I have roommates and it's just inconsiderate to use. I also want the timer to advance faster by holding the + and - buttons. It moves very slowly and the only alternative is to quickly press the buttons, which emit a loud beep each time. Typing something like 45 minutes (+1 hour, then press and hold to decrease minutes by 15) isn't bad, but typing 30 minutes is the worst, as it's either 15 seconds long press or 30 loud signals required. As for the photos, they should convey how big this thing is. It feels comparatively light (457 grams / almost exactly 1 pound with the battery installed) and the back has a dimple at the top that makes it like a handle to move around with. The display has large, easy-to-read numbers. For non-Americans, this is a 12 ounce soda can, a dollar bill is 6.3 inches and a quarter is about 1 inch. I ended up hiding that and instead bought a 3 event timer from Oxo which has a much more tolerable beep. Volume and tone, as well as entering numbers using the keyboard instead of +/-, making it easier to enter 30-minute timers. Oxo one displays all three timers at the same time, but the numbers are comparatively tiny. The search continues. What I really need is a timer the size of this one, with keyboard entry of numbers and three events (HH:MM:SS) displayed simultaneously in large quarter digits on a backlit display that I can read from any direction. Space and (at least one option) a quieter beep. One day I will find this unicorn and buy at least 3 of them.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • It's ok
