Fast and great looking M.2 NVMe enclosure

I got this M.2 NVMe enclosure from Icy Box to use some "old" M.2 NVMe drives, that I had lying around after upgrading the drives in my laptops. I've been using it on and off for a few months now and can safely say it's a great little device. That's why I say this: Benefits ----- * FAST! Using the included USB-C adapter, I saw read speeds in excess of 1GB/s and write speeds close to 900MB/s. Please see the photos I have included with this review for the exact numbers.* Stunning LED lighting. I usually have reserved tastes, but I really like the LED light show on this case. The fact that it can sync with your computer's lighting using one of several major ARGB standards (Asus Aura Sync, ASRock Polychrome Sync, MSI Mystic Light Sync and RGB Fusion 2.0) is really cool. My Asus motherboard could detect and control it perfectly. And if you don't like it or get tired of it, you can turn off the LED light show at any time. * Attractive design. I've had several colleagues and clients asking me what this colorful, high-tech gadget is. The NVMe drive is awesome.* Also comes with a spare rubber grommet/pin to hold the M.2 NVMe drive in place and three black rubber bands that I'm not quite sure what to do with to do.* Quick and easy installation. It's mostly tool-free, installing the M.2 NVMe drive only requires the included pin. *Comes with a USB-C to USB-A cable and a USB-A to USB-C adapter, meaning you should have it out of the box with almost any computer. Lots of attention to detail here. * Excellent instruction manual. It explains in detail how to install M.2 NVMe drive with many simple instructions. Excellent work! Cons-----* The rubber grommet/pin used to hold the M.2 NVMe drive is a bit difficult to attach. * The plastic compartment that houses the M.2 NVMe drive looks a bit flimsy. These issues are actually pretty minor, so I'm not deducting a star. Insert the small pin that came with the case into the small hole on the bottom of the socket/stud and use it to push it under the drive's plastic sled.

Pros
  • Great selection
Cons
  • Nothing here
