In principle it works. Most of time. My biggest complaint is that it makes two loud noises when plugged in or unplugged: - ringing --- a terrible design decision in my opinion, but that's up for debate. This is simply due to incompetent technology. If you want your amp set to the maximum volume you're listening to music at and use your phone's volume control, then they're really loud! It also makes something like the last sound when your phone toggles the bluetooth output on/off, which can be a common occurrence. It also randomly disconnects/reconnects from time to time. Sometimes I'd leave my phone plugged in when going to bed, only to be woken up by a beep/clap when it decided to disconnect. Sometimes several times. The sound quality is significantly lower than my M-Audio MobilePre USB mobile preamp and audio interface or even the headphone jack on my laptop or phone. This is very evident on classic recordings, even with Ogg Vorbis or MP3 encodings. My gear is a decent little home setup (currently Andrew Jones' ELAC B6 Debut Series 6.5" bookshelf speakers (a pair) on decent stands, an Acurus amp and preamp, etc.) with an integrated system you may find , and in desperation , I ended up buying a ridiculous Audioengine B1 Premium Bluetooth Music Receiver that costs a whopping 10 times as much! The difference was so big, I upgraded my bedroom system to a Monoprice home theater music receiver with NFC support and APTX codec (110248) also doesn't cause any of my complaints about this device (sound quality is about the same as the audio engine (didn't mute it), no intentional or incompetent technical noise when plugged/unplugged, and actually stays connected for the expected range! ), and at $55 it's a lot less crazy. (The best? The best devices connect and disconnect silently!) Indeed, if you can afford the Monoprice, go that route. Audioengine has probably passed the point of diminishing returns if you're not concerned with its superior reach. So try something different. But this thing is better than the really aggressive bluetooth audio adapter for music streaming sound system, Esinkin Wireless Audio Adapter Works with Smart Phones and Tablets, Wireless Adapter for Speakers (see my review though many people like it).
