This is a very confusing garment I ordered it based on my size, I did measure myself with a tape. I am curvy but one the slim side. I went for the 6x because my butt is 45 inches, the waist on this thing is to big, and I can tell with a smaller size it wouldn't clinch you in. this would be OK as just an under garment for a short dress or if you didn't want to giggle much. It was these lines in the seams that are too thick and you can see under your clothes. The thigh and but part didn't come all the way up. Since The garment was big I was able to get it on because to the upper part was so large, but where the cheeks go didn't fit my whole butt. If you have a large butt or hips don't bother, get something that doesn't have that butt area added or that is very stretchy
