My experience with the K95 Platinum keyboard makes me embarrassed to buy any other Corsair product. I bought this keyboard because I wanted a quieter keyboard to type on (the K95 is a terribly loud, clicking monster). It's quieter in that regard, but a far cry from the "quiet whisper" mentioned in its PR description. qualitative. The only thing I would like to note is that when I type (I bought the cherry red variant) there is a high pitched spring squeak. It's very distracting and annoying. The buttons themselves are comfortable to type on and, as I mentioned, they're not as noisy as other types of switches, but their hiss, especially when I'm typing words (as opposed to games), can break the deal. The worst thing about any Corsair hardware is the horrible, user-hostile, awful, almost criminal iCue software that you have to use to access features like the lighting profile. I'm a professional web developer for a Fortune 100 company, so I'm technically savvy. I have never used more unintuitive software. So far I've spent more time making this keyboard look the way I want it than actually using it. The second worst feature and the reason I can return this keyboard is the fact that while I do have onboard memory to store my profiles, I haven't seen any proof of it (and I've seen forum posts saying the same thing). I like to match my keyboard color scheme with my mouse and CPU cooler. However, when I put the computer to sleep or turn it off, the keyboard reverts to the factory default rainbow pattern. This drives me nuts for two reasons: first, I didn't choose this pattern, and second, I paid a lot of money for this keyboard. It's reasonable to expect that I'll be able to tune it to the published specs. There are many other great gaming keyboards out there. My advice? Choose this or any other Corsair gaming keyboard. Until they fix their serious (and well-documented) software problems, their hardware isn't worth the frustration caused by the software running it.
