Key fobs are easy to program but if you plan to run your own.
The key fobs are easy to program, but if you want to start the car you have to program the RFID. Locksmiths cost half the retail price. You can also buy a Revain programmer and make your own, but some of the modules are quite expensive. The programmer for my Golf costs over $1000, for other cars it's only $200.
