Warm gloves for outdoor enthusiasts

These gloves helped me avoid frostbite on my fingers. I'm outside a lot in the winter and have tried a lot of different gloves, usually cheaper and lighter pairs because I do cross country skiing which makes it easy to keep warm. However, when I wanted to go hiking, I didn't have a pair of gloves that would work well when walking in teenage temperatures. I tried them in the store and knew right away that they would work well. During the hike my hands stayed warm and I had to share them with my friend who had cheaper gloves and whose fingers were very cold. Even after I stopped moving, my fingers stayed warm. The waterproof construction is durable and the ability to keep hands warm is still unmatched. The construction of these gloves is very durable and the materials used are of high quality. The leather is soft and supple, so you can move easily even with gloves. The fingers are not so wide that you can not do simple movements with your hands, you can use them to tie shoelaces, but it takes some practice. Velcro wrist straps help keep the gloves in place by covering any exposed skin between the jacket and gloves. The insulation fits well and does not stick, but is very even. I was impressed by the glove's ability to retain heat, in most cases the gloves freeze your fingers and force you to pull your fingers closer to your palms; I've only had to do this a few times. I had to do this while sitting on an elevator in -20 degrees and 15/20 mph wind. The leather protects against wind and prevents your hands from getting wet from snow or other forms of water. The insulation keeps your fingers and palms warm in all extreme conditions. Rating: Pros: - Warm and comfortable - Sturdy and waterproof construction - Light weight and allows finger movement - Not as bulky as some of the cheaper gloves. rated for the same temperature class - easy to rinse off as they are waterproof, making it easy to remove dirt and grime from them. - Fairly light - 9.4 oz. Cons: - The price is high compared to the cheap gloves you will find on average. storeOverall: I would recommend these gloves to anyone who wants to keep their hands warm but can use their fingers in the cold. In this case, you get what you pay for.**Note. This rating is from the perspective of someone with a relatively high cold tolerance. ******Updated 2nd May 2016***** I have used gloves in winter in the Adirondacks where they got wet the inside when I was in the backpack and also because my hands got sweaty from mountaineering . They mostly stayed warm until I stopped moving or was at the peak of wind speeds of over 60mph when the wind could be seen through some parts of the gloves. My hands got very cold when I stopped for lunch and took off my gloves to open the bins. They didn't warm up quickly with the gloves on as they were now cold inside and not actively moving. But after 10 minutes of exercise, the hands quickly warmed up again. I still love these gloves and the issues I was responsible for as I said. These gloves can be used within the specified temperature range and are still comfortable. I'm planning to buy a pair of Black Diamond Guide gloves for the harsher conditions next winter. I still highly recommend these gloves and they remain at my 5 star status.
