Love this iron! These plates are actually all ceramic because they create steam when you straighten your hair, making it silky and shiny. My hair is coarse and frizzy/frizzy and I was able to finish my hair in less time than usual. I was concerned that 410 degrees wouldn't be hot enough, but I actually only managed my hair at 390 degrees.
