My wife has been wanting a navy cardigan for quite some time. When she saw the opportunity to try this sweater, she was pretty excited.When the sweater arrived, she tried it on right away. It fit as expected in the girth, maybe a little bigger than a size small should. However, the length of the sweater and the sleeves was exceptionally long. We thought, being 100% cotton, it might shrink in the wash. No such luck. I don’t think the sweater shrunk at all. The length isn’t that much of an issue, since she has a long torso and likes the way it extends past her backside. However, the sleeves are problematic. She’s not really keen on rolling the cuffs, but that’s what she has to do to keep them from going into the palm of her hands.While it didn’t shrink, what the cardigan did do was fade. Even though we washed the sweater in cold water, as directed, the garment faded several shades lighter, but only the outside. Oddly enough, the inside of the sweater stayed the original color. We have no idea why or how.On the plus side, the sweater is warm and cozy. The knit is thick and a bit heavy. It’s perfect as a cover-up in the mornings when it is cool. It would be nicer if it had a couple of buttons, so she doesn’t have to hold onto it to close the gap in the front. I would rank it about a medium in softness. Another thing that’s nice is the ample pockets, where my wife can stash keys, tissue and her cell phone—particularly when she’s wearing a dress or pants with no pockets.If you are a tall, slender woman needing a warm attractive sweater, this is a fair option. Try to get it on sale, though, since the asking price of $39.50 is a bit inflated. If you are more of an average sized person, then this may not be the one for you—particularly if you are looking for something that doesn’t fade like jeans.
