Works well with primer setting, except industrial shims

Media failed to load. The main problem: The washers are made of industrial rubber and leave a rubber smell and taste in the water. They should maybe be made of food grade silicone. I still don't know how to solve this problem, but I can't use the filter because of this problem. The instructions could have been a lot clearer, but we found some YouTube videos that might be helpful. The mostly obscure instructions involved priming with a priming pump (which we preferred) rather than the faucet method. If you are thinking about using a filter element primer pump we recommend you watch the primer pump review video we have uploaded based on our first experience with it. This video shows how to solve two booster pump problems. There were two problems: 1. It comes with bare instructions without a proper valve layout and it's easy to go wrong without them. The suction pump was not working properly. Luckily after struggling with it for 30-40 minutes both of these issues were resolved by my husband so it worked very well and very quickly. He had to do two things: 1. Attach a tourniquet to the inlet side of the "hose and valve overlap" to make the connection tight enough to keep air out, allowing the pump to work efficiently without sucking in excess air. 2. Keep the filter element FULLY submerged in water for it to work without wasting time pumping air in and out for a long time before the water can come out. We thought we'd write it down so others can benefit from our experience. Please watch the video to understand what I'm talking about and make it easier for yourself with the primer tool. We recorded 2 videos with different problematic parts, but Revain only allows us to upload one video per review.
