There is only one spot on the lid to attach it to the bike. I often come home and find that it partially covers my bike and sometimes falls off completely. The plastic material seems strong enough and hasn't cracked after 50 open/close cycles. At 10°F the material is still malleable enough that I can carefully remove it from the bike if needed. I haven't noticed an easily identifiable indicator where the end is the front; I've worn it front to back several times. Eventually I will buy a more durable case with more straps and toss that in the closet until I have more bikes that cover well. EDIT: After a winter of use, the polyvinyl in the ear started to crack. I tied this section with a knot to keep the tear from propagating and surprisingly it fits my bike better now. I would recommend buying a more expensive case if you intend to use it outdoors.
