Works, but there are better solutions

Only tested between two Windows computers. I decided to give it a try because for some reason Windows makes it extremely difficult to share files between devices. I hope it was just plug n play, but it wasn't. You must install the software on both computers and the software application must be running on both computers to establish a connection. The good news is that the software was easy to install - a simple cable connection creates a read-only "floppy" containing the installer. Nothing special needs to be installed, just run it and click the wizard. Once started, file transfer was quick and painless. But honestly? There are better ways to do this. Just buy a cheap external USB stick. No software installation is required and you have the added benefit of an external drive. The downside is the disk capacity cost if you need to move really big files like big disk images or something like that. If so, buy this cable. Another solution would be to simply set up Windows for sharing. I was hoping to be able to move files between my windows box and my linux box, but that's not possible with this cable. For some reason Windows Network Share requires some understanding but is cheaper than this cable. It can also be a bit slower for large files. And if you want to share with Linux, fall back to the old SSH or FTP. So, finally, if you are moving very large files from one Windows computer to another, get this cable. Otherwise, get an external USB drive, set up Windows sharing, or just use WinSCP.
