Four stars so far. Nothing else until I take it out on the water and do some fishing. After all, that's the point, isn't it? However, at the moment.1. Well packed and protected. Even a good screen protector.2. No wall wart for charging of any kind. Which is good. With all USB chargers, it's unlikely to be needed. It's nice to have notes like this, as you can see. BUT the manual says nothing about how to remove the charging port cover and where to connect the USB cable. While this isn't a deal breaker or difficult to understand, it should be in the instructions.3. My pool is barely deep enough to use the device. But it is, and it was, for a wireless converter. Wired wasn't accurate. Really didn't expect it. The picture shows the radio converter in my pool and the use of the device in my house. Range is good.4. The antenna is perhaps the most vulnerable part. Especially when fishing. I will follow him.5. Charge it now.6. The software needs some help in terms of intuitiveness. It's not hard to figure out, but it's also counterintuitive. And he needs a way out. After you set it up, it shouldn't turn on in "Running" mode. Maybe not, but I don't know how to stop this. The settings are saved so you don't have to reconfigure them. But it should just run after you set everything up. As already mentioned, the software needs some adjustments. Will be updated shortly after the actual fishing. You need to adjust some sensitivity settings etc. to make it easy and efficient to use. It's important to have both a wired and wireless connection. Updated September 1, 2018. Went to one of the local ponds where they stock fish for community fishing. It's still too hot in here to stock up. The next planned stocking of catfish is at the end of September. The park ranger said have fun but no fish. He thought the sonar was very cool. Although the fish were few, they were still there. I caught five catfish. Nothing special, but still, you fish, it's a good day. The sonar mapped the bottom very accurately with no cable. I couldn't use a wired sensor for this type of fishing. I increased the sensitivity so he doesn't show me the bluegills and here they are, a handful of larger fish swimming by. I've played with it, thrown it away, mapped the depth, etc. and it's been accurate. The map for these public ponds isn't a secret, so I was able to compare it to what I already knew about the depth. As for throwing away the wireless sensor. I've tried several options including nylon line on a kite spool. The best way is by far a fishing rod with a thick line. Nothing special either. A short stiff rod which I rarely use and a well worn 15lb test reel was the best option. One of those tough, short, foldable "travel" rods would be perfect. The range of the wireless converter was perfect and for me it was about 40 feet. I actually threw it in. The rating has increased to five stars. Recommended for shore fishing. I will test on the boat but not before the end of October. There is no ice fishing here in AZ. By the way, the park ranger was surprised that I caught a catfish. Now for my complaints about the software. This requires some adjustments. The seller replied to me, nice of them, and some of the things I complained about, they don't do anything. Do you want to leave the option? Dont do anything. After the programmed time has elapsed, the device continues, there was no input, so that's it. What I get, but everything else I have, when you're done, you'll do something. When I'm done from my smartphone to my iPad, I click something. Which again isn't a deal breaker, but it's different. When you're done, do nothing and give the sonar a little time and that's all you need. touch nothing. Some other things are hard to explain. If you had two of these things side by side, like the MUCH more expensive Garmin, and compared how the software, interface, and options work, then it would be a lot easier to understand what I'm talking about. Again, this isn't a problem, but there is room for small tweaks that will make this Lucky Fish Finder even better.
