I bought this 2 weeks ago from another site and wanted to leave a review because it's gone. I'm an electrician by trade and have many uses for it. This angle finder is well suited for the purpose it was designed for which is checking angles for pipes. I've used this week bending the pipe and checking the corners and it seems correct all the time. There are two modes. Absolute - In this mode, the angle is determined from absolute zero, which can be recalibrated if necessary. When working on a flat surface, you usually use this.2. Zero - in this mode you can find the angle compared to a not perfectly flat surface. All you have to do is place the protractor on the surface to be compared. Press the ABS/ZERO button and your surface temperature is now 0 degrees. Now place the protractor on something and you will get the angle compared to the surface you are comparing to. I would also like to mention the magnet. The V-groove causes the magnets to move backwards a little, and while it holds very well on any type of magnet tube, it doesn't hold up so well on flat magnetic surfaces. If the magnetic surface is painted, be sure to hold the digital protractor firmly when determining the angle as it will slide on the vertical surface. It's not exactly ideal for leveling some of the boxes in my trade. This is the only fact stopping me from giving this perfect 5 a rating. I think if they could figure out how to magnetize their side for flat surfaces that would be perfect!
