These things are like cryptic placeholders that make you wonder if you're wasting your money trying to convince yourself you're helping. I have a 17 year old cat who never had a behavior problem until her "brother" kitten (whom she grew up with) died of cancer. He died 5 years ago and right after that she cried all night and was constantly worried. It's safe to say that we were and are heartbroken. About 6 months later I adopted a 1 year old female and immediately started spraying the area throughout my basement. I wasn't sure who it was until a 17-year-old splashed on the wall while carrying my suitcase into the garage for a business trip one night. It's important to note that the 17-year-old girl was spayed as an infant by the SPCA before she was adopted. We have 4 scratching posts in different rooms, several litter boxes, 4 water bowls, 2 food bowls, cat beds in each room and these children are given canned food for breakfast, dinner and "supper" (the eldest has kidney problems). . The house is literally run by 2 cats. However, I have 1 cat that urinates in front of 1 litter box and a 17 year old girl squirts on the curtains in my bedroom (another cat likes to sit by the window behind) and all over the ground floor. The vet diagnosed the youngest girl with stress-related bladder mucosa damage. I keep buying these things and now they are literally in every room. The latest batch smells like burnt plastic, although the diffusers aren't new. This practice costs a lot every 30 days and the diffuser in my bedroom stinks even though we humans shouldn't be smelling it. A 17 year old sprayed my curtain 2 days ago. But now they sleep 1 foot apart; an event like "mark this day". So back to my introduction - who knows if they work. I'm just trying to improve the quality of life for cats in the time my eldest has left. I inhale so many cat pheromones that conceptually I would most likely be comfortable with a tiger walking through the front door.
