I bought this set after suggesting my grandchildren make candles for their mothers and teachers instead of buying Christmas presents. I'm never sure why, as a grandfather, I suggest these things. I think of things that sound good in my head, that seem to fly out of my mouth before I can put them back. Having said that, I searched for a way to achieve this. I found this little starter kit which only stocks 4 small 8oz candles but is a good starting point. I bought a few more supplies (okay, LOTS) and 5 packs (ages 6 to 16) and started making candle gifts for them. It wasn't nearly as bad as I had imagined. A little messy, but not terrible, and this set of pre-measured consumables was a great way to start learning. It contains 4-1/2 lb bags (2 lb total) of soy wax. Each bag is 1 - 8 oz. container candle. Soy wax is very soft and doesn't seem to work well with molds (found this out of experience) but if you start with this kit and follow the simple instructions you can easily buy more supplies to make more. We made 20 candles and the kids loved it. I sent her home and took a nap. then I realized my house. Well it was fun.
