I needed a compact retractable data cable. That's it.1. This is a real data cable, I'm a developer who works a lot with Android devices using Android Debug Bridge (ADB) and it works fine. 2. Only one side extends and retracts (switchable head side), unlike most other retractable ones. The cord is not long but it fits me. My Mac is always next to my Android when I'm at work.3. The magnet is "strong" but not strong enough to pull the head out of every Android device I work with. So when I unplug the cable, the head stays in the device and it's awkward to take it out. Luckily I only use it as a spare travel cord to use in a pinch, not my main work cord. Point #3 is just annoying but in the end I agree with this purchase. Love the idea of switching heads instead of having an ugly hydra-like cord with multiple heads dangling around. I think this is normal for the average cell phone user who only uses this cable with a few devices that require different types of connectors. For example, you can just leave the magnetic head in your device (because it's invisible) and turn it into a sort of makeshift MagSafe plug.
