This is the thinnest Defender case I've ever had. I've been using the Defender since 3GS. My last iteration was for X. Over the years there have been a few versions that have been good and bad, but this one is good. It's 1/8 inch thinner than the X version. They've also reduced the side protrusions while maintaining a larger screen protrusion at the top or bottom, making it easier to view each screen from the side. The buttons also seem easier to press than the X version. The only downside to the case I've found so far is the access to the mute switch. I don't blame Otterbox too much for this. Apple has upped the switch placement from what I'm used to on the X, putting it very close to this case's hard shell, making it difficult to put it on silent mode. Muting to Normal is still easy.
