I've enjoyed the metal dice craze that's been going on these last few years. I have a LOT of metal dice, to the point where I only get more if I see something unique. This style of dragonscale dice has been my high water mark for metal dice, so I had high hopes for these rainbow ones.The build quality of the dice is really nice. They have a nice heft, the tactile aspect is great, with a raised number and scaly texture that isn't covered up by clear epoxy like some companies do if they don't trust their surface quality. The font is stylized and easily readable, even if your set has a lot of gold scales behind them (although the 4 looks a bit like a 9 at first glance).But speaking of gold scales.the paint job is just not good. I think it's rainbow paint over a gold surface? What looks like a halfway decent highlighting job at a distance just looks patchy and uneven up close. It honestly looks like the paint has been rubbing away after too many pizza grease streaked fingers rolled them over the course of months or years. You can even see it a bit if you check out the close-up pics in the listing, and when the listing pics aren't their "A" quality work, the product is in trouble.I'm not 100% sure if I'll keep / use these or not. I think they'll look great to everyone at my table but me. Maybe I can get someone else to use them so I can admire them from a distance.
