Very disappointing starters and parts

Purchase was easy. It looked good. After the third start, the lock nut came loose from the shaft. The nut, recoil spring, washer and cap now lie somewhere in the yard. What now? Another start? What started out as a simple solution has now turned into another problem. I would add a picture of what's left of the starting pieces, but I don't want to be overly dramatic.
