Perfect for beginner hikers (I had one with some rubber on the bottom). A "stick" is sufficient but very thin and soft to help them learn to walk. The fringes increased a little after wearing it, but it was quite a lot and made it more eye-catching and charming. I get compliments on her all the time! I'm just sad they don't make them in larger sizes as well because my daughter is too big for them.
