WOW! Purchased this on the day my daughter was diagnosed with an environmental allergy. We have two dogs (Basset and Golden Retriever/Shih Tzu who shed little) and a cat. My husband is allergic to cats and dogs but we have had them for many years. Anyway, our house had just had a deep cleaning and a professional company came in and cleaned and disinfected our basement and air quality to the highest standard. This was turned on right after and a month later the big filter looks like this. Our house is about 800 square feet on the ground floor. We have two smaller versions, one in each bedroom. Open the ones nearby to see how bad they are. It's basically in the middle of our ground floor. I'm glad so much has been clarified but also shocked and overwhelmed considering they recommend replacing these filters every 6 months. It clearly works so well that I can just order extra filters and change them every month or two, especially now during a severe springtime allergy that is tough on our family. I HIGHLY recommend this cleaner. It takes up little space, is very light, easy to move and very quiet, especially in sleep mode when you are very sensitive to white noise sounds. Will probably buy one of these for her basement and one for our second floor, plus one size to fully clean the air in our old house.
