My use case for this cage is probably a little different than most as I only use it for photography and not video and it's still useful for that purpose. The extra threads essentially make it a giant L-Bracket and you have 4 extra spots to use for a mounting strap. It can also provide basic protection for your camera body. And for left-handers, it gives you extra grip. The biggest (and so far only) shortcoming is that the C2 and C3 keys are now partially covered. You can still reach them, but now you have to move your hand to the front of the camera (see last picture) instead of to the side. It's a relatively minor inconvenience and I probably won't notice it as much after a while, but if you're a sports photographer or something and need to change these settings quickly, you might find this annoying.
