This unit was developed by others to outperform the Dorman intake manifold as the ATP has a metal bushing for the EGR port and not the plastic of the Dorman and GM original. Unfortunately, installing only the top inlet will not solve your coolant loss problem. The real problem is the lower aluminum air intake, which has plastic spacers between it and the engine heads. Yes, I said plastic in the engine. Many people blame Dex Cool antifreeze as the culprit for plastic gasket failure, but the real enemy over time is engine heat, not Dex Cool. In the owner's manual for my Buick Park Ave. GM states that any coolant other than Dex Cool will ruin the heater core. lower too, otherwise you could end up spending more money and time taking the thing back out if the bottom inlet seals eventually fail. Once you have the top air intake, the bottom part of the cake will be if you're careful not to drop anything into the engine. The bottom air intake seal installed by Fel Pro is the one you can get here at Revain. Also be sure to remove the plastic elbow tubes in the bottom inlet and the belt tensioner (must be removed with the bottom inlet) from there or they will fail. Dorman makes metal headers to replace that junk and you can get them right here at Revane. Now you need to make sure you get the o-rings and all that plastic out of the intake ports and belt tensioner holes before you put the Dorman parts in or you'll have leaks. Take your time removing them and they will still break, but make sure you clear all passages. Finally, make sure that antifreeze isn't getting into the engine, and a surefire way to prevent this is to take out the water pump and replace it while you're there, because all that preventive maintenance will pay off in the future. When you're done, change the oil and use a Royal Purple oil filter (best). Available here again in the grand revain. So in summary, your shopping list should be: Upper Air Intake (ATP), Fel Pro Lower Air Intake Gasket Kit, Dorman Steel Coolant Manifold, AC Delco Metal Gasket Water Pump, Serpentine Belt (check for wear cracks), Royal Purple Oil Filter and Dex Cool 50/50 Coolant available at Wal Mart (best price) 2 gallons.
