My daughter is 5 years old, about 41 inches, 35-40 pounds and I bought 5/6. They fit great and I personally feel that they are true to size - with tights they usually get better use by starting larger but not too big - but too small doesn't work. I'm glad I voted 5/6 for her performance. The colors are real, but the pink, while pleasant, is a slightly pinkish-orange but transparent enough to not stand out. She can wear them with her pink ballet outfit without noticing the difference, but if you have a specific pink color that you need to pair, keep that in mind! Otherwise, the price is great and the convenience of buying all three colors at once is priceless! Update: Hm. I needed a white pair for my daughter's dance concert. The night before, she wore white straight out of the box for less than an hour of training. Put that on her the next day, there was a hole, maybe a snag at first? - which turned into a hole just before the concert - I only had a few! Last minute used clear nail polish to keep the hole from spreading but not happy. Tips from my experience: - always have a spare pair with you! - these tights turned out to be more nylon just so you know - very fragile!
