Very good high definition (8 MP) external camera with Ethernet power supply and one-way audio. Pros: - Video quality is excellent, especially when compared to Amcrest dome cameras. The main reason is that the infrared heater is not covered by glass, so there is no glare from behind in the dark. With one-way audio, this camera is great for capturing additional information. The best use case is probably as a backup or complement to a video doorbell to provide better situational awareness. Easy installation as I already have an existing D-Link PoE hub that powers my other PoE cameras. This camera replaced an old PoE camera, so the Ethernet cabling was already in place. The ability to record video locally to a micro SD card has always been a nice feature of Amcrest cameras. Cloud recording is also an affordable option if you have the option of remote storage. Cons: - No power supply included, so initial setup can be tricky if your PoE hub has a different power supply for an external Amcrest camera. On the plus side, this camera was compatible with my other external Wi-Fi Amcrest camera's power supply, so initialization was fairly easy for me. The case is not vandal-proof, so do not install it in an easily accessible location. No two-way audio so you can't glean anything from the Amcrest app. - Night vision quality is good, but still not in color due to the nature of this hardware configuration. Other high-end security camera manufacturers that use low-light technology similar to that used in smartphones tend to provide more realistic color images in the dark. While this feature isn't a deal breaker, it can help you identify suspects should you need to contact law enforcement. Conclusion. This Amcrest camera is a worthy contender in the outdoor POE camera segment, especially if you already have a POE hub and field wiring in place. One-way audio lets you hear what's happening in your field of view with reasonable accuracy. You can't talk through the app because this camera doesn't have a speaker. The best use case might be to backup your video doorbell.
