Review on πŸ’§ APEC 2-Stage Sediment Water Filter CB2 SED CAB20 BB by Scott Clayton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good reliable product for the money

I don't write many reviews I know some reviews are confusing the seller has multiple products so this one Rating specifically for APEC Water Systems CB3-SED-KDF-CAB20-BB Whole House 3 Stage Water System with Sediment Filters, KDF and Carbon Filters, Blue. However, I would like to take some time to talk about this product. Our well water smelled of sulfur. The house is less than 3 years old and we had no problems initially. After researching, I discovered that the smell comes from hydrogen sulfide gas, which is produced by bacteria that feed on our iron-rich water. You can check the absolute facts on this as I'm not a chemist. All my family knows is that the water actually started to stink in sinks, showers, and even through fridge water filters. Choosing a product to fix this problem wasn't easy. I've found that there are basically two types of filters: those that use cartridges that need to be replaced periodically, and the type of filter that uses an air gap or forced air and filter media. The latter needs to be flushed, I'm told fairly regularly that the water can be 50 gallons of flush water and since we're in a septic system I was concerned. I'm not saying air gap devices don't work as I haven't tried any of these devices that I don't know. I chose the product I made because you don't need to flush it, you just need to replace the cartridges. That being said I can find it expensive in the long run due to the cost and the frequency with which we have to do it. Just saying this product worked for us and the problem we were having. The unit was pretty easy to install as I used all the Pex quick connectors so I got it done in about 3 hours. After installation we noticed an immediate improvement and after about a week of use and a few cycles of the water softener the problem seems to have completely gone. I think hydrogen sulfide bacteria get into the water softener and even the water heater and it takes time for them to go away. Either way, a great product looks well built, is easy to install and maintain, and the problem is solved.
