This is a heavy, durable item that appears well made. The bottom and top edges are polished to protect the bearing surfaces from scratches. Depth is good and the spice mill side is good for this use. The volume/capacity does not quite match the advertising. To be clear, the 2.5 cup capacity refers to both grinding jars, and indeed both are a bit short. I measured the capacity of my large bowl at 1.9 cups and the side of the spice grinder at 0.45 cups. The silicone lid is impressive - it has a small latch at the top and simply stays on top of a jar of mortar but can lift that heavy mortar even when dry! This speaks well for the smoothness of the solution. I'm only giving 4 stars because the performance is a bit over the top, but it's worth the price.
