Review on RAM Handlebar Coated U Bolt Garmin by Mark Clark

This is a good product for my 20ft ocean going boat. It attaches easily enough to the windshield handrail and is easy to remove at the end of a boating day (I leave the actual U-bolt attachment on the handrail). The disadvantage of this product is that the mount is used by a large number of customers in or near salt water. RAM sells a stainless steel U-bolt mount as an expensive accessory (only the U-bolt is stainless). I replaced the zinc nuts, bolts, washers and u-bolt on the zinc bracket and RAM rail base with rustproof parts from my local hardware. (The nib doesn't look rustproof and time will tell if I need to find a clean source for a stainless steel nib). All replacement hardware costs less than the RAM price for just a stainless steel U-bolt base. I recommend everyone to do this for their mount. If the RAM could be assembled with all of the stainless steel hardware, including the spring, I would give it 5 stars.
