EDIT: 9 months later: It took me a long time to find out that this was the cause of the recurring battery problems on my MacBook Pro. it either passes no power, or so little that it fools the MBP into thinking it's getting a charge when it's actually running low. still worked great for ethernet pass-through, but I don't recommend this product. helps avoid tangled cables from my 13" MBP. Used constantly for ethernet for 2 weeks with no problems, sometimes for USB3 backup drives, no speed change there.
