These hinges look great and work great. I used two hinges on the fire door from the garage to the house. The previous owners removed the spring hinge (middle hinge). The other two original 1980s hinges were worn, causing the door to sag and rub. I replaced the middle and bottom hinges with these spring hinges. You can assemble them yourself if the spare hinges are in good condition. In my case, since the old hinges were damaged and sagging, I needed someone to lift the door so I could attach the new hinges. I realize I actually had 1/4 inch radius loops. I know rookie mistakes. To prevent others from making my mistake I have included photos of the 5/8" radius hinge showing the gaps at the corners and the correct 1/4" radius I had to get to fit the adjust cutouts. I chose to keep the 5/8" radius hinges as they don't look too bad and work great. You cannot use a 1/4 inch radius buttonhole on a 5/8 inch radius neckline without expanding the neckline. The kit includes the tools you need to adjust the spring tension and you get an extra pin (it's called a tension stop pin). (TSP). Adjusting the tension is easy. Instructions are on the box and I've included a picture of it in this review. Install the hinge, making sure the side with the hex screw is facing up. Use the supplied rod (see fig. insert the box as the Adjusting Rod Tension (TAR)) into the rightmost adjustment hole and pull the rod to the left. Hold the stem (TAR) all the way to the left and insert the locking pin (TSP) into the first or second hole to the right of the stem. If you need to adjust the tension after the second hole, use the included hex wrench to hold the tension so you can remove the rod (TAR), reinsert it into the second hole, and use it to advance two more holes. * Manufacturer advises that the number of holes must not exceed three (3) for 180 degree doors or four (4) holes for 90 degree doors. I assume this is to ensure you don't over-compress the inner spring. When you are happy with the tension, insert the pin (TSP) so that it is flush with the top of the adjustment groove. The only complaint so far is that Revain used a box that was too big and didn't fill the space with wrapping paper. When they arrived the Revain box had a decent hole in the side of the box as those hinges are small but heavy. If the box had been moved much more I don't think the hinges would have held. Don't forget to check the box right after delivery so you don't get stuck with an empty box.
