Before installing it in the dash, I checked by pulling the radio out of the dash and wiring it in series from the antenna to the radio. 12 V. connected with a jumper. Tune into an FM station with poor reception that I wanted to improve. The amp was on, the red LED lit when I pushed the button. Whether the 44-UA60 LED is on or off makes absolutely no difference to radio reception. Bought this a few months ago and can't return it. I recommend you do this simple test before you slice your dashboard to install this useless junk!
