Review on ๐Ÿ”ช Optimized Youth Full Face Razor Helmet by Micheal Chaplain

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Decent review here, sizing is right, helmet is in price range

I'm a grown male, head 56cm (22"), hat size about 6 3/4". I'm nearing the upper limit for this one Helmet. If you are 23" tall, this helmet will likely be a bit tight for you at first. I love this item. This is exactly what I was looking for. or BMX racing helmets. They were above my price range, they are heavier and bulkier I used to have a 661 Comp helmet which is about $70 and is the cheapest mountain bike helmet you can buy It was about 900 grams It's 590g I use it for use at the skate park when I scooter, skateboard, roller skate, and mountain bike The 661 helmet, although one of the lightest mountain bike helmets you can get, was more durable...heavier and bulkier than I wanted. This Razor helmet is the perfect Ohm product as it is lighter yet offers jaw protection that no other half helmet offers no matter the price. I also owned a Troy Lee Edge MTB helmet decades ago, which is no longer in production, but served the same purpose as this helmet: super light, airy, and with all the protection of a typical half shell, a nominal, slightly functional chin bar. So yes, it's a cheap plastic chin bar. It has a minimal amount of closed cell foam inside. It cannot be removed (unlike the Troy Lee Edge and some questionable looking Fleabay alternatives). So the choice is yours: Want more protection? Spend at least twice as much to get something heavier, bulkier, and possibly less ventilated. This is not a helmet for true downhill or big air racing. If you bang your face on a rock at speed, look elsewhere. But if you simply want more protection than a half helmet but without the inconveniences that a full helmet brings, then this is one of the few alternatives in this price range. Looking to spend hundreds on a Met Parachute or Fox Proframe helmet (two other options with a very light and airy design)? Go on! But don't blame it by saying there is no protection. That's it. Next, get your correct size folks. There are too many posters here complaining about size and it's obvious they have no idea how big their heads or their kids' heads are. Going by age group is stupid, yes. Take a look in any school yearbook or group of kids and you can easily see that the shapes and sizes of the head are myriad, along with hairstyles that by themselves make a big difference in helmet size. Take a sewing tape or string and measure the size of your head. Then complain.
