I bought a Weebill lab earlier this year and it has been one of my best purchases to date. It was a harness that suited my needs. Small, light and has enough weight capacity for my setup. I wasn't planning on buying another gimbal any time soon because the Weebill is more than enough and I don't plan on using a bigger camera than the one I already have. However, everything changed with the announcement of the Crane M2. I realized that there were times and moments when I wanted to be discreet while filming and not draw too much attention from people. I pre-ordered the Crane M2 because of its versatility. This way I can shoot with my phone or action camera when I'm embarrassed to use the Sony A7R3 camera. Received the Crane M2 today, did a little test and below are my first impressions. Pros: - Very small and compact, even smaller than Weebill - Versatility: allows me to use multiple types of devices (action cam, phones, compact camera) - Wireless control. If you are using Sony A6XXX series, you can now control the camera wirelessly. Price. Cons: The locking mechanism of this gimbal is not for a single axis, but 1 lock for all axes. Might be subjective, but I prefer locks in my Weebill lab. - Carrying case: It has no handle and no locks, so I think it's just a bag and not a carrying case. Perhaps this stabilizer is already small enough to fit in most bags, eliminating the need for a suitcase when traveling. Slightly shorter battery life - 7 hours on a full charge. I've only listed what isn't available for most stabilizers because I think it's important. . I'm also surprised by the weight capacity of this gimbal. I was able to balance my Sony A7R3 with an 85mm F1.8 lens. This rig weighs at least 1kg and the gimbal was not advertised for this load. I don't recommend doing the same because you have to be careful not to hit the rear motor. But if I want to use it with that setting I can get away with it since I'm just doing basic tracking shots. If you want to use it with a larger rig like the A7III, you'll need to pair it with a pancake lens like the Rokinon 24mm f2.8. For me, the ideal setup for this is a Sony A6XXX series camera and a small prime lens.
