Got them just in time for my November hike. I wore them directly outdoors, in temperatures between 22 and 40 degrees Fahrenheit, for about 72 hours. It wasn't until I sat still and the temperature was very cold that my fingertips began to get cold, and even then not enough to justify putting on finger gloves, since even a little movement creates enough circulation to keep them warm again. I wanted wool for many reasons, it doesn't catch fire when crafting on a fire, keeps you warm when wet, dries quickly and doesn't stink when worn for a long time. You have met expectations. The downside is they give you what I call "hobo hands", sitting by the fire and eating stew out of a mug, it didn't help. Hands were very baggy. I usually wear size XL with gloves so I was actually a little wary of getting a big one but thought the knit would stretch. I could stuff hand warmers at the top and bottom of each hand without stretching the hand's body material, but that would be too warm. I hope rinsing helps.
