It's amazing the quality DACs you can buy in the $100-200 market today. The Topping E30 is a very good performer with an interesting minimalist take on the blacked out front. Just a very subtle touch button on the right acts as the physical controls for turning the device on and switching input sources. All other controls have to be done via the remote control, some of which strangely don't even have the corresponding functions that control the E30. What to do, topping? The E30 DAC gets 5 stars from me because of the incredible price on offer. However, I would like to see some simple modifications to this little black box. The physical touch switch in particular is barely visible on the front. It should be more clearly outlined in white. I am currently pairing my Topping E30 DAC with their L30 headphone amp and am very happy with the results. Please note that the E30 *does not* come with a 5V wall adapter for the device. When powered by USB from your computer, power comes through the USB cable. If you are applying a digital signal via a Toslink optical cable, you will need one of the spare 5V USB chargers with the included power cord for power. DACs usually benefit from very good silent power supplies, so I use one of those redundant 5V linear power supplies I got from a supplier in China to make sure it's getting enough ultra-clean, powerful power. Heck, the audiophile grade 5V linear power supply I use cost me almost as much as the E30 DAC, but it all works really well together.
