Review on ๐Ÿน Habitrail OVO Dwarf Hamster Cage: Ultimate Small Animal Habitat with Essential Hamster Accessories by Jimmy Moreland

Revainrating 5 out of 5

"Adventure Pack " - Bought 1, then another, will buy more

Disclosure: Much cheaper than Revain Warehouse items purchased. I didn't want to pay full price for it. When I saw that one of them was cheaper due to a damaged item in the box, I took the plunge. There are two globes in the closet - both larger than I thought. It also comes with a nifty 5-pin cube connector, a T-connector, two elbows and two large straight T-connectors. I found it difficult to find a use for capital Ts, but sometimes you have to use others. The mice seem to avoid the big ball, but three of them occasionally squeeze into the smaller one to sleep. Another cosmetically damaged one came up and I bought it - it had a crack at the hinge but once assembled it was perfectly usable. I've discovered that one of my pregnant moms has made this place her nest - hauling bedding from everywhere to completely fill the globe. She has given birth to babies in the "Labyrinth Habitrail OVO". When she found this smaller ball, overnight she moved the bedding from around the cage and reduced her throw to 2 - putting 2 in the ball. I see her kicking while taking photos for this review. I tried 7 different toilets for my mice. I keep them all and leave feedback on each. Four from Habitrail, 2 from Crittertrail and 1 from Tiny Tales (one of the Tiny Tales isn't on Revain, only on PetSmart - the short story is that it's roomy but has a hole at the bottom). The beauty of both globes that come with the adventure pack is that the entrance is above ground rather than going straight through the bottom of the ground. Probably, the mother mouse realized that her young could easily fall into the hole in the maze and moved them as soon as she found out about the world. The other annex I have that has a side entrance is the Kaytee CritterTrail Fun-nel Small Animal Annex and another mother chose this as her nest even though she gave birth there and didn't cover the entire structure with litter. Even though the Habitrail globe has vents, I can see condensation inside. The Kaytee has no air holes, but so far I haven't seen any fogging on this one. Since the floor is below the horizontal entrance, the litter naturally stays inside unless the animals intentionally try to dig it up. other outbuildings have an entrance from below, which in others results in linens falling naturally through the entrance. Others may also have had babies who strayed and fell down the chimney - which is probably why one mum chose to take hers to this after cull and the other chose Katie. The big ball seems too big for the mice comfort. I have found that mice prefer narrow spaces when given the choice between a large cage and a spacious >1000mยฒ. m, > 500 sqm m or even > 150 sqm. m from Habitrail or Kaytee and the like. When they get into large spaces, they become disoriented and uncomfortable, rushing from side to side and quickly walking away. My mice have access to a very large space in a few cages and prefer to spend most of their time and be born in cramped spaces like a smaller globe. i will see two of them crammed together in a cube and sleeping - there is a male mouse that prefers to spend most of its time awake in a 5x cube - he travels long distances to find food through a large open cage to get - and put a piece or two of food in a small tight cube, then eat and repeat. Habitrail connection rings are very reliable but very difficult to attach and use correctly. If the rings included in the kit are not fastened or used incorrectly, the structure will fall apart at the slightest lateral movement. I'm still unable to use the Habitrail clutch rings - some of them don't seem to engage at all - they grab one pipe and the other doesn't. I prefer the Kaytee or Tiny Tales connection rings - they are more difficult to attach and detach than the Habitrail, but they are also more secure and there is no doubt about their correct connection. Got it.

Pros
  • Pretty pack
Cons
  • Almost OK
