Reviewed by a homeowner. Have owned Dyson Ball Total Clean for over a year. and low pile semi-moulded carpeting (wool/polyester I think with extra durable padding). My conclusion: blows the old Eureka canister on hardwood floors and carpet (until I can lift the tree or carpet off the floor). However, the suction power is too strong for thick and heavy 10x10 carpets (wool/cotton/polyethylene). Dyson raises the mats off the floor, making it difficult for the machine to roll over the carpets. It would be nice to somehow dampen all the suction to deal with the carpets. Keep in mind that these are not flimsy rugs. The ball even sets the mats apart from the center mass of the carpet. IF I KNEW HOW BAD THIS MACHINE WORKS ON CARPETS, I DID NOT PURCHASE OR RETURN DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD. The cost far outweighs the performance for our use. Bought a wireless SHARK to handle all the carpets. Old 42-year-old Eureka should probably just be pulled out of the garage. Hooray!
