If you are purchasing Goldwing (up to GL1800 with chains) REPLACE THE BELTS ASAP. If you do not have documentation showing that the belts have been changed in the last year or two AND that the bike has been ridden regularly, REPLACE THE BELTS. Forget the estimated lifespan of timing belts, they are cheap insurance on a Goldwing engine and belt failure WILL DESTROY the engine. You can't tell if a belt is good by looking at it, touching it, etc. It's not the same as your fan belt, and if you buy a used grand piano that has sat for months or more, the belts can take over the equipment. , and it fails without warning when trying to run it. It's easy to change belts, there are plenty of videos and guides online, and THIS is the belt you need for the GL1500. They are the best out there and at this price point there is no point in not changing the belt when the time comes.
