I am a tea lover and I love such inventions. PROS: Love the glass, love the temperature settings. It takes a little longer than other kettles to reach the perfect temperature, but it's not all metal and I think it's worth the wait. My wife likes it better than our last kettle that did something like this. If she's happy, then I'm happy. CONS: I have super filtered reverse osmosis water and yet calcium still accumulates at the bottom. I have to put my hand in to clean it and since my cannibal hands don't fit I have to ask my wife for help. The thing is, you have to clean it once every two or three refills, otherwise it will get out of hand and reach a state where it's impossible to clean. There's a neat feature of the plug-in slip filter that traps those calcium deposits before they get into your morning oolong. The only thing that annoys me and why this bad boy gets three stars instead of five is that this stupid little filter breaks very easily. If, like me, you don't like limescale in tea and you clean your kettle often, you'll need to remove the filter to clean it. Well, removing and reinstalling the filter is like playing Operation, and if you make a mistake, you'll end up with a broken filter instead of a buzzer. The lame little tab holding it in place is very flimsy and comes off easily. This has happened to me, and every time we try to use it with a filter, the filter falls into the hot water. lame. See they sell these filters as replacements on the Breville website for only $1! YUP! Well that's what you think until you see that this $1 filter costs $9.95 to ship. After calling Breville to ask if they would send a replacement or if there was no option to pay by mail instead of FedEx, they politely declined and directed me to their website to find out how to buy it. Since I love happy wives, I bought two in case the second one met the same fate as the first. If you're like me and the Boy Scout and want to buy a few extras just in case, spend another $9.95 shipping more than two at a time. These things drive me crazy. I'm sure I'm alone in my perfectionist mindset, but I want things to work in a way that it doesn't always cost more than fair to have everything the way you want it. But overall, this kettle is better than others. So I'll put up with their bullshit until some hot new thing comes into my life and I find a way to break it and complain again. Thank you for reading.
