My rats liked it straight away. They started doing it almost immediately and rarely go beyond that. It's big enough for both rats to sit comfortably on it at the same time. It is very easy to install and once installed, it is easy to remove, clean and replace. (It needs to be cleaned daily, so it's a nice feature.) The metal stand can be flimsy and doesn't always stay in place, but it doesn't seem to bother them. My only rat started sleeping on it because the counter stays cool. (It's been around 90 degrees here lately) My girls love it so much I'm able to buy another one as their cage is big enough for two. Suitable for rats and probably suitable for rabbits or guinea pigs. PS If your rats/pets are missing, look behind the bin. My girls like to hide behind it and take spontaneous naps during the day.
