Recommended for your child. I've been a Thorlo fan for many years and own several pairs of hiking socks. I decided to try these. Size: In theory, they should fit my foot. I can wear size 4 children's sandals. I have size 7-7.5 feet = 37-38 EU size. They were too short for my comfort. If your child is on the higher end of the size range, you can order on the small end of the adult size range instead. I think it would be great for a size 3 child. I can fit, but for winter sports I would recommend socks with more room around the forefoot (it's never ideal when socks are too tight in cold temperatures). You should also reckon with the fact that they are suitable for smaller people (they are children, after all). If you're an adult with small feet, you may find that the sock fits, but doesn't go over the counter (but taller than the crew). Color: true black. Haven't washed them yet but I've always felt that Thorlo's size and color stay true to size if washed according to directions. Padding: They have padding as described on the website. The Thorlo does a great job of keeping cushioning where it's needed without making the sock too bulky. You have completed as expected.
