Before the first dive I carefully checked the o-rings and mating surfaces and made sure they were lubricated. I had a dive to about 80 feet. After about 5 minutes of use in the light I was impressed with the evenness of the fill. Shortly after that the red LED came on and then I noticed that the lens was fogged up. It received and stopped completely after a few minutes. Back on the ground, the battery hissed and gases escaped from the button. I suspect water entered through a button or lens. The battery compartment has a good double o-ring but no lens or button.
