I've been wearing Birkenstocks for over 35 years - sandals, shoes and clogs - although most people have never heard of them. I believe that you will then find it easier to wear socks with clogs and use them as regular shoes. With sandals, you can always loosen the straps to wear socks, but the closed nature of the clog limits this practice. Also, for some reason, my feet sweat more in clogs, so I prefer to wear socks except when I'm just hanging around the house. Like all Birkenstocks, Bostons wear well. The cork should be resealed periodically with Cork Life or Kelly's Cork Renew. If the cork is damaged but still in good condition, Cork Life or Cork Renew can be used to fill the damaged area. If the sole comes off, Barge Cement will repair it perfectly. The same applies to the suede insole. If you don't want to do the work yourself, look online for places that specialize in Birkenstock repairs and repairs. This is possibly the best option for clogs, as the closed nature of the shoe means some parts are inaccessible without complete disassembly.
