Review on Enhanced Golden Mean Calipers Case with Fibonacci Design by Pedro Hague

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not perfect but will get the job done.

Luckily, as some other reviewers pointed out, my box wasn't empty. They arrived two days after ordering in a padded sleeve from Revain of Kentucky. The protective box they came in is just a cheap chipboard box with faux carbon fiber vinyl covering the outside. The lid is simply plugged into the base. It'll probably last a while if you keep them on the shelf, but if you're planning on carrying them around, you need something better. It also had a label for the small kit, but the correct medium 6.5" kit was in the box. See my photos. The supports themselves are good. Time before the brass bushings used as hinges wear out. The photos used on Revain are deceptive. The smallest overall size you will get from them is 1.125 inches. They can reach a maximum size of 12 inches, but you have to open these things to the limit. Compare my ruler photo to the image they use when showing the largest measurement. In general, there are two things that I see as weaknesses. The first is a cheap box. I'll come up with something better, but it still sucks. The second is the thickness of the metal of the calipers. They're about the thickness of a credit card. thin makes them slightly flexible. Again, the crate they give you won't keep them safe for long. Decent calipers but I wouldn't pay more than half what they charge here if I knew what I know now. For $15 or less they would be worth it.

Pros
  • FULLY REUSABLE: These gold vernier calipers are fully reusable and easy to sterilize. They can be used as a proportion ruler and are an important addition to your art design supplies.
Cons
  • unreliable
